Description

ROC Out Newton is a Royal Observer Corps post in Yorkshire between Withernsea and Kilnsea. It sits on top of a cliff next to a lozenge type pillbox, close to the north sea. Due to erosion this post will soon fall onto the beach and be destroyed.

All surface features are in place. The ventilation shaft has been broken off to ground level. The top of the access shaft is badly damaged, the hatch has been ripped off and part of its adjacent ventilation shaft partially removed. The shaft is filled with rubble almost to the top.

As the hatch is missing the interior has filled with water. The Lozenge type pillbox was used as an observation post. The stairs remain but the platform is missing.
