Drumtroddan Standing Stones are located at Drumtroddan Farm, close to Port William, Dumfries & Galloway.
The three remaining stones date back some 5000 years ago with evidence of a fourth stone since lost. These stones were raised carefully to a planned design.
The construction would have required plenty of technical and organisational skill. It is unknown what the stones were used for, although it has been suggested that solstice alignments may exist as the stones line up with the midsummer sunrise in the northwest and the midwinter sunset in the south west.
